trouble maker

I have my hands full with this one...

I always thought Chase "got into" everything that he shouldn't get into. I am sure he did get into a lot of things but not like his sister does. Leah brings mischief to a whole new level. She was dragging this basket all around the house using it as a stool to get into and onto things. With Chase I never had to worry about the knives on the counter or my boiling water on the stove, but with this one everything is a hazard! Anytime I start cooking in the kitchen she pulls a chair from the table and jumps up to help.

She has such a sweet helping spirit. Lastly here is the face of my little trouble maker...

Bowling

So we decided to try a new adventure this morning and take the kids BOWLING. I wasn't too sure how this would go. You mix two very active little ones with other very active little ones, heavy bowling balls, dangerous equipment, and slippery floors, to me it sounded like a recipe for disaster. First you have to check out these very cute shoes...

Well as cute as a bowling shoes can get. The kids were so excited to get started and surprisingly had good strength to get the ball down the lane.

An older gentlemen that was bowling a few lanes down from us got a kick out of watching the kids heave these balls down the lanes that were almost as big as they are.

Chase's friend Lucy was having trouble getting the ball all the way down the lane so we got a little ramp help that made it more fun for the really little ones and the big ones too...

It took us a solid hour to get through one game and that was after we finally gave up trying to keep the kids from bowling out of turn. It worked much better just letting them get up and roll the ball when they wanted to. Chase lost interest about the 8th frame but only because there was a huge arcade in the bowling ally. I don't think we have any bowling prodigies on our hands but I think we might have found a fun family activity from time to time.

We have had an abundance of beautiful weather up here in Michigan and we are really enjoying spending most of our time outdoors. We have been able to get our swings out for the kids...

We also have a couple of visitors that like to sunbathe in our front yard.

It has been so beautiful out that we have even been able to get out and get into the swimming pool...

OK you caught me, it was an indoor swimming pool that our landlords have access to. Last weekend they invited us out for swimming and dinner and the kids had so much fun.

Chase has been asking to go back everyday. We also have a new chef in our house...

Leah has entered the ranks as our newest Saturday morning pancake chef. She has been watching her brother help for sometime now and finally got her chance last weekend. With her Daddy's help she made some very yummy pancakes! When we are not cooking, swimming, or swinging there is plenty of silliness going on at our house. I will leave you with a short video of a giggle that will make you smile.

18 months... already!

I can not believe that our sweet baby girl is 18 months old already!
Newborn
6 months
1 year
18 months
She has grown so fast and has changed so much over the last 18 months.  From birth she has always been such a joyful baby. She still is so full of joy and now has an over abundance of energy. She has to do everything her brother is doing even if it includes leaping from the bed onto my hope chest (not smart).  She keeps up with all the big kids and even throws herself in the middle of a bunch of 3 year old's wrestling.  Needless to say she keeps mommy on her toes.  She loves hair bows and accessories but sways more to the tomboy side of things loving dirt and mud.  She loves hitting the ball off the tee and throwing the ball for the dogs. She is off the charts in height at 36 inches long and weights in at 26 lbs 9 ozs.  If she had some hair she might look like a 3 year old.  Here's to the next 6 months!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful St. Patrick day.  Don't forget to wear your green or else you may get pinched...

At Chase's school on Thursday the Leprechauns were super sneaky and turned everything green. Guess what? They stopped at our house today as well...
Green pancakes made into shamrocks...
Way to go Kevin! There were also green turkey and cheese omelets for the big people in the house...
Looks yummy, doesn't it? The kids loved their Leprechaun surprises and chowed down.
I think green beans are on the menu for dinner but I don't think any other foods will be mysteriously changing green. Happy St. Patty's day!

Park day

Saturday the sun was shinning and we were needing to get out of the house! We decided to head downtown Farmington to pick up some treats at the bakery and then walk to the park. It was still a little chilly out so we made sure to bundle the kids up. On our way to the park Leah passed out for a little nap.

Amazingly she slept about 45 minutes with kids running around her screaming. When she finally woke up she was ready to play! Chase was very excited because he learned a fireman skill....
He of course got as dirty as he possibly could...

After playing at the park and walking back to our car, we were all well worn out.  Good thing because it was early to bed with with time change (for everyone)! Hope everyone else had a nice weekend.

War wounds

Leah is officially going into a bubble!

She is quite a dare devil, loving to climb and jump but these larger injuries seem to happen with "normal" activity. This one she was just walking into the kitchen and stumbled and caught the corner of the wall. My goodness child! If I chronicled every bump, bruise, or gash this child has gotten you would probably report us for child abuse. With the way she tries to tackle and wrestle her brother I am waiting for our first injury induced ER visit. Needless to say she keeps my blood pressure up and keeps me on my toes!

I think we need to invest in some princess band aids :). I hope your day got off to a safer start than our day!

Tollgate farms

We decided back in January that Chase was ready to start preschool when a spot became available at a friends school.   Chase has done very well and loves going to school.  Since Chase started, today was his first field trip.  Parents accompany their kids on field trips, so we dropped Leah off with a friend and headed to Tollgate farms to learn how maple syrup is made.

When we arrived Chase watched his "chariot" pull up and he was over excited...
There is nothing like a tractor ride on a cold rainy day.  Yesterday it was in the 60's and sunny but unfortunately today it was rainy, windy, and the temperature continued to drop as the morning went on.  It rained all the way to the farm but lucky for us, stopped raining for the duration of our tour and then rained on the way home.
Once we found the maple trees we got a little hands on lesson on how they extract the sap.
First they find a tree, then they drill a hole in the tree.
After the hole is drilled they tap into the tree and set up a drain into a bucket. Pretty simple, pretty neat.  Since they have hundreds of trees to drain and don't want to have to check buckets every few hours they have a slightly more sophisticated system.
They run the tubes tapped into the trees via gravity to very large containers. Once a container is full they take it down to the "sugar shack."
This is where they boil down the sap creating the maple syrup.
Fairly simple process and a very yummy result!  They gave us each a sample of syrup in a Dixie cup. Nothing like giving 15 three and four year olds shots of pure sugar.  Needless to say we will be having pancakes in the very near future.

Say "cheese"

I just can't get enough of this cuteness! Leah is so full of herself right now and has mastered the art of "cheesin" for the camera. I am trying to get as many pictures as possible before, like her brother, she decides she doesn't like the camera. She has so much personality and I love trying to capture it on camera.

"CHEESE"

Crazy girl! Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
