Lake Greenwood

The weekend after the kids started school, Grammie and Papaw took a trip in their Motor home to Lake Greenwood.  It is about an hour and half drive for us so we headed up on Saturday morning to spend the day with them.  Papaw rented a boat to add to our fun.

Henley said, "lets get this show on the road, I'll drive".  She is a wild one on the water just like she is on dry land.  Papaw got us going and we were off to explore.

Although they may not look all that excited, Chase and Leah were very excited to get to be on a boat.

Henley is almost always excited...

After a quick stop for a picnic lunch, Kevin took each kid for a ride in the tube.

Leah was a little hesitant at first but was quickly up to full speed and didn't want to stop.

Henley was a little terrified at first but I think it had more to do with Kevin frantically trying to get the rope unknotted before Papaw took off than her actually riding in the tube.  After they got going she had a great time!

After everyone had their turns on the tube we anchored for a little swim time.  Chase didn't waste time jumping off the back of the boat.

Henley LOVES swimming and spent her time kicking back and forth between everyone.

On our way back, Chase got to be captain for awhile.  Papaw taught him about the ways of the water while he was driving.

Henley hung out with Grammie while drinking Grammies iced tea.  At least I think it was iced tea... Henley did take a little nap shortly after that.

After we weaved our way under a bridge and though a small passageway we found the "Hidden Lake".  Looking up we thought we were about to get rained on so we decided to head back to the dock.  The rain cloud took off another direction so shortly after we got back we headed to the pool.  Papaw brought me a raft so I could relax a little.  Henley just swam around.

Papaw and Kevin entertained the big kids. The water felt great!

Everyone was good and worn out after all the activity and swimming.  Kevin took the kids and him and Papaw went to return the boat.  When they got back a mexican fiesta was awaiting them.

Thanks Grammie for the great meal that we enjoyed outside in the beautiful weather.  Chase and Leah got to spend the night with Grammie and Papaw and really enjoyed their extended time with them.  Thank you for a great day and fun times out on the lake!

School Days

Ok so school started for us back on August 19th. I'm almost a month behind but I will try to catch you up on all the McMahan activity in the last month.  Chase started 1st grade this year at New Covenant and this is his first year going to school for a full day.  His teacher this year is Mrs. Long.

He was not really all that thrilled about 1st day pictures.  The first week of school was a little rough with Chase getting adjusted to being at school all day and there being less time for him to do the things that he wanted to do. Definitely less TV, game time as we had had over the summer.  By the third day he was asking if he could go to school earlier in the morning so that he could be home earlier in the afternoon.  After that 1st week or so he had gotten the hang of things.

I mean can't you just read his mind on that picture, "come on Mom, your embarrassing me!" Little Miss Leah entered her last year of pre-school going 5 days a week to Mrs. Martin's 4-K class.  She goes to school from 8am until 11:30 am and you would think with as tired as she is by dinner time that she was at school all day as well.  They do a good job of wearing her out!

She is loving all of her friends in her class. Can you imagine a class of 9 girls and one boy, poor Ryland.  She is loving her teacher and all the new and exciting things they are learning and exploring.  We are very excited about this school year and all the kids will be learning. #welovnewcov
