Memorial day fun

Our fun with Uncle Ryan and Aunt Steph continued into Memorial day. We started our day with a little parade fun.

We met our friends the Hoyt's at their house and walked over to the parade in our own little stroller parade. We cozied up on a blanket to watch the parade.

Sweet girls are the best in the world!

The parade started with a fly over and had most of the usual parade subjects.

And our lovely crew...

And because a parade is not enough activity for 2 children and adults in one day we decided to venture to the splash park. It took the kids a little while to warm up to playing but once they did there was no stopping them.

Chase and his Daddy had fun with the water guns. Unfortunately there was an occasional unintended causality of war. After our fun in the sun we headed home for some relaxing and grilling.

Don't come to our house for vacation, we put you to work.

Hope everyone had has much fun as we did on their Memorial Day!

Uncle Ryan and Aunt Steph

Chase has been so excited about his Uncle Ryan and Aunt Steph coming up from NC to visit him! Everyday for the past couple of weeks he would ask if they were coming today and when I said not today he would promptly respond with, "is it the next day?" meaning tomorrow. Well luckily for all of us the day finally arrived. Chase was more than ready to show his Uncle Ryan what his new wheels could do....

Power wheels that is. Chase was not letting his Uncle Ryan out of his sight...

Well while most of there trip would be centered around the kids there is always a little time for just the big people. Sunday night once the babysitter arrived we headed out to grab a bite to eat.

We headed to Bar Louie by default for dinner. We were wanting to go to a place called Copper Canyon for dinner but found out when we pulled up that they were closed because it was Memorial day weekend. Although it was our second choice we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather and the food was pretty good as well, not to mention the beverages.

After dinner we walked across the street to Lucky Strike where we tried our hand at air hockey. The McMahan's vs the McMahan's...

In case your the competitive type I can tell you a McMahan won :) After a little friendly competition, as every evening should end, we walked over Coldstone creamery and indulged in some yummy treats.

Thanks Ryan and Steph for a fun evening!

Last Day of School

I can not believe that Chase's first year of school has already come to an end. Granted he only did half a year but none the less it still went by really fast. Last Thursday was Chase's end of the year bash. Families were allowed to join for the day so Leah got to see the fun side of school. The day included parachutes, water balloons...

(Which were Chase's favorite of course). There were bikes to ride...

Face paint and tattoos...

corn hole to play and of course, bubbles...

After lots of fun in the sun the party resumed in the classroom with pizza, jello, juice, and cookies...

After everyone's tummies were full Mrs. Porto presented each child with a personalized award and certificate of completion for 3 year old preschool.

Chase received the award for best memory. Mrs. Porto explained that he was always the first to point out to her if she deviated from the normal schedule or routine. No surprise here on that one, my child is a creature of habit/routine. In Chase's defense he does have a really good memory. He can kick some tale in the game Memory and he has all his bible verses memorized from this year. We are pretty proud of our little man!

Rare moments

Please forgive me for my lack of blogging lately! I have some catching up to do but have been too busy, busy to sit down and blog. Please stick with me while we spring our way into summer and hopefully slow down a bit and have lots of fun family time! Stayed tuned but until next time I'll leave you with a rare moment in which we actually got a picture of both our kids together...

Better days...

Well today was one of those days that you would never want to repeat. We are not really sure what was in the air but both of our kiddos were a bit on the cranky side. Chase showed us the will of a 3 year old today in a constant state of rebellion and our sweet Leah showed us her, well not so sweet side. On days like this we have to think about the sweet times with our kids to keep us sane. Yesterday we had a wonderful day and followed our lunch with a little treat....

How could you be mad at faces like that!!!

choo choo...

For my birthday from Grammie and Papaw I got a seasons pass to the Henry Ford. I know it doesn't sound all that exciting but it is a really neat place with a lot to offer. There is the Henry Ford museum that is quite large with lots of fun exhibits for people of all ages. The pass also gets you into Greenfield village with is like stepping into an 80 acre time machine. It brings you back to the late 1800's where you can ride an old steam engine, an old Ford, take a horse and buggy ride, or stroll in and out of historical buildings/houses. I took the kids down with my friend Diana for the first time last friday to check it out.

After my test run of Friday we took the kids for a special event on Saturday.

Thomas the train was at the village to visit with all the kids. Chase has never been a huge Thomas fan but he has a couple videos and likes trains so we figured he would enjoy seeing Thomas in person. I wish we would have gotten it on video when we first saw Thomas because Chase went crazy jumping up and down and screaming. I never expected he would get so excited. While we waited for our time to take a ride on Thomas we checked out some of the activities they had set up for the kids and the train roundhouse.

Chase LOVED that you could go under one of the trains in the roundhouse.

They had some fun cars set up for the kids to drive around.

Our ride on Thomas.

After spending some time with Thomas we caught a quick ride on the carousel.

The boys then headed over to catch a quick car ride.

Our friend Claudia was there with us with her boys who rode in the car with Kevin and Chase. It was quite and exciting and busy day and we look forward to many more fun days out at Greenfield village this summer!
