Sky Top Orchard

We have been so busy lately that we felt we were lacking in fun family time so last weekend we took a little drive up to the mountains for a little apple picking.

The kids were so excited to be out as a family they even let us get a decent family picture.

Being the first nice Saturday in a couple of weeks, the orchard was very busy and with it being our first time there we were a little overwhelmed.  Once we got our baskets we were on our way to find some apples…

The view of the orchard and the mountains with the fall colors was beautiful...

Once we found some trees with applies to pick we found a couple of monkeys to climb up and get the good ones for us.

Chase could have stayed all day long just to climb trees and now I think apple picking is his favorite thing to do just for that reason.  After we got a good bucket of applies we headed back up to the play area they had for kids.

Henley hung out a little in the stroller...

Since they were so busy we sent one person to wait in line to get us some fresh pumpkin doughnuts and apple cider to enjoy before we headed home.  The wait was a good hour but they were some yummy doughnuts.  Sorry, I don't have a picture.  They disappeared too fast.  We had a great time, enjoyed the fresh air and just spending time together.

Now that we have experienced sky top and apple picking we can't wait until next fall to go back again!

Fall field trips

Fall is in full swing and after a few days of dreary rain the weather has been beautiful the pas week.  The beautiful weather was just in time for both Chase and Leah’s fall field trips.  Chase’s class ventured to Hardy Berry Farm.

They were first to go on the hayride where they learned about strawberries and pumpkins.

Then the kids were let loose on the playground.  There was sand, swings, teeter totters, and other fun equipment….

All the kids favorite place was the jumping pillow…

It would be awesome to have one of those in your back yard!  After jumping the kindergarten class wanted to test their skills in the corn maze.  We didn’t want to loose anyone so we decided to do it as a group.

Sadly or navigating skills were a little off and we ended up back at the beginning not once, not twice, but three times and after the third time we decided to exit through the entrance.  The kids didn’t know any better and still loved going through the corn. Once we excited (out the entrance :)) the kids took off for the giant slide...

It was pretty tall but not as fast as it looks.  Chase’s teacher even took a turn going down.

Chase had a great time with his class on the farm.  The following Monday, Leah had her fall field trip to Callaham Orchard.

First the kids got to feed the goats.  Leah was very hesitant and didn't like the idea of a goat licking food out of her hand but she did come around and pet the goats.

They also went on a hayride and learned all about chickens, strawberries, different plants, poison ivy, and how pumpkins grow.  Leah enjoyed singing songs on the ride and sitting with her friend Elody.

They taught the kids how to milk a cow.

and then they got to play some games including a bean bag toss, and a water rubber duck race.  Leah really enjoyed the morning with her friends and seeing the farm.  Fall is such a fun time of year!
