Happy 4th of July

I know that I am a little late but I hope that everyone had a very happy 4th of July.   On the actual 4th of July we had an exciting day of yard work.  The bushes were over due for trimming and our beautiful new grass needed mowing.  The saving grace for spending your day off doing yard work is a yard that actually looks nice when you are done.

It is nice to actually have grass and not just weeds that are cut really short :).  Since we were boring parents all day working in the yard we pulled out the poppers and sparklers after dinner for a little fun.

Henley chilled in her stroller...

Our real 4th of July fun actually came on the 5th.  Our church put together an event called Race day that included tailgating, inflatables and games for the kids, lawn mower racing, free snacks, and fireworks to end the night.  We got to the church early Saturday morning and claimed a good spot and headed back around 5 where we met a group of friends for some good food and good times.  We of course provided the treats.  Kevin made an american flag cookie pizza and I made smores bars...

I was a camera slacker most of the night so you are just going to have to take my word that the kids had a great time playing, the food was awesome, the Segway our friend Mandy brought was fun to drive, and the lawn mower racing was hilarious. The temperature was perfect for a long evening outside and when it finally got dark the fireworks were some of the best I have ever seen.

Everyone enjoyed the fireworks and even Henley stared at the bright display.  We had a great evening with friends and a fun 4th of July weekend!
